Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids
Here are many free Thanksgiving crafts for children that are inexpensive and educational.
1. Paper Plate Turkey
Materials:
- Paper plate
- Colored construction paper (red, orange, yellow, brown)
- Googly eyes
- Glue and scissors
- Paint or color the plate brown.
- Cut out feathers, a beak, and a wattle from colored paper.
- Glue feathers to the top of the plate and face features in the center.
- Add googly eyes to complete the turkey.
2. Thankful Tree
Materials:
- Brown paper or cardboard tube (for the trunk)
- Construction paper in fall colors
- Markers, scissors, and glue
- Cut a trunk shape from brown paper or use a paper towel tube.
- Cut leaf shapes from colored paper.
- On each leaf, write something you're thankful for.
- Glue the leaves onto branches or around the trunk.
Paper Bag Turkey Puppet
Materials:
- Brown paper lunch bag
- Construction paper (red, orange, yellow, brown)
- Googly eyes
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Markers (optional)
- Lay the paper bag flat with the flap facing up. This flap will be the turkey's face.
- Cut feather shapes from red, orange, and yellow construction paper.
- Glue the feathers to the top back of the paper bag so they stick out behind the flap.
- Cut out a small orange triangle for the beak and a red squiggly shape for the wattle.
- Glue the googly eyes, beak, and wattle onto the flap to create the turkey's face.
- Decorate the body of the bag with more feathers, drawings, or stickers if you like.
- Let everything dry, then use your hand inside the bag to make the puppet "talk."
